The famous Koneshwar Mahadev Temple located in the middle of a dense deodar forest in Devalsari is said to have been built in the 1600s. When the history of Devalsari temple was investigated, it was found that this temple is such a temple in Uttarakhand, where Lord Shiva created a forest in anger. The interesting story of the construction of this temple can be heard from the local people in this valley. According to the legend, a sadhu reached the farm of a villager who was guarding the fields here. The sadhu asked the watchman for a little space to build a hut, but due to the crop being planted, the watchman refused to provide space to the sadhu. On this, the sadhu got angry and left from there. In the morning, when the watchman reached the field, there was a deodar forest instead of the thriving crop. He also saw a Shivling in the middle of the forest. The villagers considered the sadhu to be the form of Shiva and tried to build a temple here, but the temple could not be built. After some time, a villager saw his cow offering milk to the Shivling every morning and evening and in anger, he hit the Shivling with an axe. Due to this injury, the axe broke and got stuck in the head of that villager, due to which he died. The villagers understood that Bholenath was angry. After some time, Lord Shiva appeared in the form of the same sadhu in the dream of a villager and asked him to build a temple between the deodar trees and take out a palanquin. Then the villagers built a wooden temple there, this temple is known as Koneshwar Mahadev Temple.
