On March 27, 2026, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team from Dhalwala conducted a comprehensive public awareness program at Kabir Chaura Ashram, Rishikesh. The program was organized under the leadership of Inspector Kavindra Sajwan and was specifically designed for participants from MIT Dhalwala’s NSS (National Service Scheme) unit.
The primary aim of the program was to strengthen participants’ understanding of disaster management and equip them with essential life-saving skills. Key topics covered during the session included the definition and classification of disasters, first aid procedures, bleeding control techniques, wound management (open and closed wounds), Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and safe methods for lifting and moving injured victims. All concepts were presented in a clear, practical manner to ensure ease of understanding and real-world applicability.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, the SDRF team introduced participants to specialized equipment used in rope rescue operations, deep diving, and flood rescue scenarios. The hands-on exposure aimed to build familiarity with critical tools and instill the confidence needed to respond effectively during emergencies.
Representing the NSS unit on the occasion were Dr. Ritesh Joshi, Rajesh Chaudhary, and Yogesh Lakheda. A total of 50 participants attended the program.
The event proved to be both informative and inspiring, nurturing in participants the spirit of community service and the practical capability to assist themselves and others in times of disaster.
