On Monday, the final day of the successful Tehri Lake Festival 2026, a kite festival was organized on the Kharasrot Astha Path near Purnanand Ghat in Munikireti. District Magistrate of Tehri Garhwal, Nitika Khandelwal, inaugurated the event by distributing kites to school children, foreign tourists, and local residents.
On this occasion, she said that the Ganga is our lifeline; without it, our lives are incomplete. Therefore, it is our responsibility to keep the Ganga clean and pure. He stated that, following the instructions given by Honorable Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during his visit to Tehri, the Tehri Lake Festival has integrated all parts of the district. An effort has been made to create a confluence of Dev Dolis, incorporating the memories of the old Tehri city, while also utilizing the district’s important trek routes to preserve Uttarakhand’s culture. He stated that culture is our heritage, and therefore, we should introduce our children to our culture. He stated that with everyone’s cooperation, the four-day Tehri Lake Festival is going to be held.

On this occasion, President of the Municipal Council of Munikireti, Neelam Bijalwan, praised the commendable work done by the district administration in arranging all types of programs at the Tehri Lake Festival, connecting all areas, and promoting culture and tourism.

At the event, President of the Municipal Council of Tapovan, Vinita Bisht, stated that such programs should be organized periodically so that future generations can gain knowledge of our culture.

In the program, cheques were distributed to the winners of the river rafting event held yesterday on Sunday under the Tehri Lake Festival. In the tourist category, 25 teams had registered in which the team of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam secured first place, Sangam Adventure second and River Explorer third. Whereas in the professional category, 98 teams had registered in which Red Chilli secured first place, Nature Rapid Expedition second and Para Mount Tour secured third place.

In the program, children from Primary School and Junior High School Dhalwala gave welcome song and cultural presentation. On this occasion, hundreds of people enjoyed kite flying at the venue.

CDO Varuna Agarwal, DFO Muniki Reti Digant, Parmarth Niketan representative Deepak, ward member Vinod Saklani, Chief Agriculture Officer Vijay Devradi, SDM Ashish Ghildial, Block Development Officer Shruti Vats, EO Muniki Reti Ankita Joshi and Tapovan Anjali Rawat, along with officials from various departments, local people, foreign tourists, and students were present at the event.
