 Women’s kayaking training started in Tehri Lake

Today, on 19th August, Tuesday, District Magistrate Tehri Garhwal Nitika Khandelwal inaugurated the 14-day (19 August to 1 September 2025) Women’s Basic White Water Kayaking Course in Koti Colony of Tehri district.

Wishing the students all the best, the District Magistrate said that this is not only an adventure sport but also a life saving skill. During the training, you will not only overcome your fear, but will also learn the skill of saving others. He said that there are many opportunities for adventure sports in Uttarakhand, through which you can gain experience and help people throughout your life. Motivating the students, the District Magistrate said – “Always keep the passion alive in your life, you will get success only when you find meaning in your work. Challenges will definitely come, but every challenge will teach you something new.”

Adventure Sports Officer Seema Nautiyal said that this 14-day training is being organized by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council in Tehri Lake in line with the instructions of Uttarakhand Tourism Secretary Dhiraj Singh Garbyal. After the training, the students will also be given advanced training in the Ganga River, so that they can establish employment as river guide and kayaking guide.

District Tourism Officer Sobat Singh Rana informed that 20 students are participating in this training, who have come from Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Udyam Singh Nagar and Dhanolti and Kirti Nagar areas of Tehri district. The food and accommodation of the students has been arranged by the ITBP and they will also be given training in discipline. Its objective is to prepare the students for national and international level competitions.

A team of 5 trainers will guide the training, which includes Dharmendra Negi, Rishi Rana, expert in swimming in thirty rivers, Priyanka Rana, Ankit Bhandari, Mitesh Negi and Arvind Raturi, who conquered Mount Everest.

On this occasion, water sports expert Bhupendra Singh, ITBP soldiers, training team and all the participating students were present.
