AIIMS Rishikesh started the Seven Plus One campaign in collaboration with Municipal Corporation and Lions Club Royal. This campaign is being conducted by AIIMS on a regular basis for the last 6 years. During the program, detailed information about prevention from dengue was also given by specialist doctors.
There is a high risk of spread of infectious disease dengue during the rainy season. In such a situation, with the aim of eliminating dengue and making the common people aware about its prevention, a public awareness program was organized in the ISBT campus yesterday. During this program organized under the supervision of Lions Club Rishikesh, Mayor Shambhu Paswan spoke about giving extensive cooperation and support from the Municipal Corporation for conducting the campaign to make the city dengue free. Lions Club Royal President Pankaj Chandani said that everyone should play full role in making the campaign successful. On this occasion, Dr. Santosh Kumar, Additional Professor of CFM Department of AIIMS Rishikesh and Nodal Officer of the campaign, explained in detail about the ‘Seven Plus One Model’ created for dengue control and gave information about the preventive measures. He said that the Seven Plus One Model has been divided into three parts. These include awareness, identification and monitoring. He also said that this disease spreads due to the bite of Aedes mosquito and the entire cycle from egg to mosquito is of 7 days. The specialty of this model is to break the life cycle of dengue spreading mosquitoes in these seven days. He said that under the campaign, such areas are identified where dengue has had a high impact in the past years. In the next phase, a multipurpose team is formed and work is done to destroy the breeding places of mosquitoes in the identified areas. Dr. Santosh said that this team includes ASHA workers, voluntary organizations, members of the health department and teams of the municipal corporation. The sequence of the campaign is repeated every Sunday. This sequence of cleanliness campaign is repeated.
On this occasion, Mayor Shambhu Paswan praised the campaign being run by AIIMS Rishikesh against dengue and said that the Municipal Corporation will provide all possible help in making this campaign successful. For this, he talked about running cleanliness, fogging and awareness campaigns in the city and surrounding areas. Apart from Dr. Santosh Kumar of CFM Department of AIIMS Rishikesh, Additional Prof. Dr. Ashish Jain from Transfusion Medicine, Additional Prof. Dr. Nidhi Kele from Emergency Medicine, Dr. Kanchan, Dr. Anubhuti and Dr. Aniket along with the health department team were present in the program.
How to prevent dengue –
Dr. Santosh Kumar said that to prevent dengue, do not let water collect around the houses. Keep the house clean. Keep changing the water in pots and coolers from time to time. Keep destroying mosquito breeding places, tyres kept on the roof, bottles, broken utensils, plastic items, potholes and stagnant water in buildings under construction and keep checking them from time to time.
Symptoms of Dengue-
Sudden high fever, headache, pain in hands, legs and stomach, bleeding from nose and gums, stiffness in muscles, complaint of joint pain and red spots on the body.
