Narendra Nagar / Rishikesh: A significant community meeting was organized today among the forest-dependent Gujjar community in the forests of Narendra Nagar, Rishikesh, with wide-ranging discussions on education, health, drinking water, pensions, Ayushman Cards, and community rights.

Officials from the District Legal Services Authority — Mitra Usha Kantura and Sarita Kothiyal, along with Narendra Nagar, Tehri Garhwal representatives — briefed the attendees on applicable government schemes and their legal entitlements.
Social activist and Wise Bridge President Bhuvneshwar Prasad Bhardwaj, present along with his associates, underscored the importance of education and health while drawing special attention to the region’s ongoing water scarcity crisis.
A central point of discussion was the “Pani Didi Model” — an initiative that has successfully provided clean drinking water to numerous families by actively engaging local women. The model has been recognized both as a solution to the water crisis and as a vehicle for women’s empowerment at the grassroots level.

Participants also deliberated on the community’s current challenges and agreed to formulate a structured action plan for future work in education, health, and water management. The meeting concluded with a collective pledge toward the holistic development of the Gujjar community.
