Tehri Lake Festival: Garhwal Heroes Win Cariappa Football Tournament
The final of the Cariappa Football Tournament, held at the Bouradi Stadium as part of the Tehri Lake Festival, was a thrilling affair. Garhwal Heroes defeated 14th Garhwal Rifles 2–1 to win the tournament title.
Earlier, in the second semi-final, Garhwal Heroes defeated IIM-T Meerut 1–0 to advance to the final. In the first semi-final, 14th Garhwal Rifles defeated 7th Garhwal Rifles 4–1 to advance to the final.
The final saw a close contest between the two teams, but in the end, Garhwal Heroes displayed a superb performance and won 2–1.
At the end of the competition, the winning team Garhwal Heroes was awarded a prize money of ₹1.5 lakh, the runner-up 14 Garhwal Rifles was awarded ₹75,000, and the teams that finished third and fourth were awarded ₹25,000 each.
In the closing ceremony, District Magistrate Nitika Khandelwal, CDO Varuna Agarwal, BJP District President Uday Rawat, Municipal Council President Mohan Singh Rawat presented the trophy and cheque to the winning team.
On this occasion, the District Magistrate congratulated the winning team and wished the players of all the teams all the best for their future. He said that the players are known for their discipline.
