Free Medical Camp at Shri Bharat Mandir Serves 1,239 Patients; Health Minister Subodh Uniyal InauguratesRishikesh
There is a particular kind of love that does not announce itself loudly. It shows up early in the morning, sets up a table, and waits — ready to serve whoever walks through the door. Today, at Shri Bharat Mandir, Jhanda Chowk, that love took the form of a free medical camp, organised in sacred memory of revered late Mahant Shri Ashok Prapanch Sharma Ji.
By the time the day was done, 1,239 people had walked through — the elderly, the unwell, those who could not otherwise afford a doctor, those who simply needed someone to listen through a stethoscope. They came and they were seen. They were tested, diagnosed, medicated, and cared for. Free of charge. Free of condition.
The camp was inaugurated by a distinguished gathering of chief guests: Subodh Uniyal, Hon’ble Health Minister, Government of Uttarakhand; Dr. Minu Singh, Director of AIIMS; and Mahant Vatsal Prapannacharya Ji Maharaj — whose presence gave the event both political weight and spiritual grounding.
Across specialisations, some of the region’s finest doctors gave their time and expertise. Orthopedics saw the highest footfall with 156 patients, followed by General Physicians (138), Ophthalmology (135), ENT (103), and Pediatrics (86). Cardiologists, Pulmonologists, Neurologists, Oncologists, Gynecologists, Dermatologists, Nephrologists, Chest Specialists, Surgeons, and Dentists — all present, all serving without pause.
Of the 1,239 who received care, 912 had registered in advance, a testament to how deeply the community trusted this initiative. A further 327 walked in on the day itself — drawn by need, by word of mouth, or simply by faith.
Also present to witness and support the occasion were Mayor Shambhu Paswan, Harshvardhan Sharma (Supreme Head, Jayaram Ashram), Brahm Swaroop Brahmachari, Varun Sharma, former Municipality Chairperson Deep Sharma, Councillor Rajendra Prem Singh Bisht, and a large gathering of community leaders and citizens who believe that service is its own form of worship.
Today was not just a medical camp. It was a memorial written in the language Mahant Shri Ashok Prapanch Sharma Ji understood best — the language of giving.
