Violence Erupts on Streets Following Social Media Feud: Swift Police Action in Laxman Jhula
Rishikesh. In Laxman Jhula, a minor dispute—which had been smoldering on social media for weeks—suddenly escalated into dangerous violence on the streets. On May 10, when the two opposing factions came face-to-face, their exchange of accusations and counter-accusations spiraled into a physical altercation.
How Did the Dispute Begin?
Mutual discord between two groups is nothing new in the jurisdiction of the Laxman Jhula Police Station. However, this particular disagreement migrated to social media platforms, where it evolved into a heated debate. From Facebook to WhatsApp, both sides constantly engaged in trading accusations, posting controversial comments, and exchanging aggressive messages.
From the Virtual to the Real
This very social media-fueled animosity proves dangerous when it spills out onto the streets with full force. On May 10, when the two factions confronted each other in Laxman Jhula, no avenue for reason or dialogue remained open—there was only anger; sheer, unadulterated rage.
Swift Police Intervention
Upon receiving reports of the incident, a police team immediately rushed to the scene. However, as one of the factions persisted in disrupting public order, the police were compelled to take strict action.
