Garhwal University has renewed its MOU with Rishikesh Yog Peeth for the next four years, having provided yoga training to 465 practitioners over a period of five years.
Rishikesh. The partnership forged over the past five years between Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University (HNBGU) and the Rishikesh Yog Peeth has become a shining example—a paradigm where the modern education system and the ancient science of Yoga mutually enrich one another.
Under the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prakash Singh, the university has renewed this agreement for another four years. This decision is not merely an institutional pact; it represents a steadfast resolve to elevate India’s rich Yoga heritage onto the global stage.
**Connecting the World through Yoga**
Since their inception in March 2021, a total of 465 practitioners (*sadhaks*) have participated in the regular month-long Yoga training programs conducted over the last five years. This cohort included 409 international participants and 56 Indian practitioners. Hailing from countries such as Australia, Germany, Canada, Sweden, the USA, and the United Kingdom, these practitioners experienced the authentic Indian Yoga tradition firsthand.
These figures represent more than just statistics; they signify the indelible imprint that Indian Yoga has left on the life of every single practitioner. Furthermore, they symbolize the dissemination of India’s spiritual traditions to other nations through the efforts of each international practitioner.
**Economic Success and Cultural Mission**
These programs generated an income of ₹17,08,600 for the Department of Yoga through training fees, while the university’s Foreign Office earned approximately ₹5,40,000 through registration fees. However, the most significant outcome remains the worldwide propagation and dissemination of the Indian Yoga tradition.
The unwavering dedication of Dr. Vinod Nautiyal, Dr. Rajni Nautiyal, Prof. Sunita Godiyal, Dr. Anuja Rawat, and the Secretary of Rishikesh Yog Peeth, Shri Digambar Ji, serves as the bedrock of this success.
**The Next Four Years: Scaling New Heights**
The upcoming period, spanning from 2026 to 2030, promises to be even more ambitious. Together, the university and the Yog Peeth aim not only to preserve Indian Yoga but also to revitalize it. Each international practitioner will serve as an ambassador, carrying the message of Yoga back to their respective home countries.
This initiative represents not merely the preservation of tradition, but its true renaissance on a global scale.
