RIshikesh world yoga capital gave gratitude to Padma Vibhushan environmentalis Sunderlal Bahuguna schools and government offical gave gratitude to great environmentalist on this birth anniversary.

Sunderlal bahuguna was environmentalist who was born in 6 january 1927 in the village of Maruda which is in Tehri District of present Uttarakahand before 2000 it was Uttar Pradesh India.

Sunderlal bahuguna was a recipient of Padma Vibhushan award Padma Vibhushan is the second highest civilian award given by the Government of India. This award is given for valuable contribution to the country in civilian fields. This award is given by the President of India. This honor was established on 2 January 1954. This is the second prestigious honor after Bharat Ratna. Padma Bhushan is the third civilian honor after Padma Vibhushan.

The following are the eligibility criteria for Padma Vibhushan Award:

The person must be a citizen of India.
The individual must have made valuable contributions in civilian fields.
The services of the person should be of special importance to the country. Nominations for the Padma Vibhushan Award can be made by various Ministries, Departments of the Government of India, State Governments, Institutions and individuals. A committee is formed to consider the nomination papers. The committee evaluates the nomination papers and recommends eligible individuals for the award.Under the Padma Vibhushan Award, the honoree is awarded a medal, a citation and a cash amount. The medal measures 3.2 cm in diameter and is made of brass. On one side of the medal, the words “Padma Vibhushan” are written in the middle of a lotus flower. The other side of the medal bears the Ashoka Chakra, the national emblem of India.

Today is the 97th birth anniversary of Sunderlal Bahuguna in 1970s he led the powerful and influential anti deforestation Chipko movement in which men and women of uttarakhand villages huged the trees to keep them safe from being cut . The forest conservation movement beacme revolutional that showcase the problem cause by the envrionmental crises in Higher Himalayan region . Environmentalist Sunderlal Bahguna passed way by Covid -19 on May 21 – 2021 at the age of 94 , at he All India Institue of Medical Science ( AIIMS ) in Rishikesh , Uttarakhand India .

Chipko Movement

The Chipko movement it starts in 1970s in uttarakhand india when the government of UP allows a supporting goods company to cut down hundreds of trees shortly in large bases , Chipko movement largely diversified some leaders emerged who magified the message in larger scale in national and international level Sunderlal Bahuguna is one of them .

His 5000km trans Himalayan foot march from kashmir to kohima from 1981 to 1983 was critical to spread the chipko message . Sunderlal bahuguna also played key role in Prime Miniter Indra Gandhi to impliment to 1980 green feling banned.

Women involvement in Chipko movement is very great ful valuable in Uttarkhand india world it inspire human to protect forest for humans life in earth . Women directly effected by envrionmental damage in Himalayan region by diforestation .
